1997 YOKOMO MX-4 Prototype World Warm-Up Replica
Re-creation of the unique 1/10th YOKOMO MX-4 Prototype ran by Masami Hirosaka during the 1997 Worlds Warm-up race.
History:
Before winning the 1997 World Championship, Masami secretly tested a slightly different prototype car at the warm-up race that was held a couple of weeks before of the main event.
Masaaki Hirosaka had developped the MX-4 gradually over several months, iterating from a 1997 YOKOMO Works.
The test car sported a shorter front delrin gearbox, 2-part front tower, a fuller top deck and a very interesting rear tower / toe plate that mirrored the same 2-piece configuration used at the front with 3 alloy dowels supporting the toe plate in place. This technical solution was later dropped, in favour of the more conventional 1-piece tower / toe link configuaration.
This car was basically the prototype of the MX-4 that won the Worlds 2 weeks later.
Only one test car like this one was ever made. The one that Masami drove at the warm-up practice, before the final MX-4 Prototypes dominated the 1997 Worlds.
Masaaki went on to make 50 replicas of the winning MX-4 but this test car remained unique.
What you get:
I miticulously created a single replica, indentical in evey aspects, to this unique car, featuring:
- RX4 Platform from Rubrix (RRP);
- Chassis signed by Ruben Gonzales (CEO RRP);
- Bespoke CNC machined delrin front bulkhead;
- Bespoke CNC machined top deck, front and rear toe links, front and rear shock towers;
- Gold CVDs;
- Titanium phillips screws through-out;
- Genuine vintage Hotlaps front and rear tires;
- Body painted by AttackRC in a lighter colour to match the original car paint scheme;
- Bespoke stickers “Masami Hirosaka”;
- Reedy SONIC 2 as used by Masami.
I have only made this single example. I will not make any other one.
