2008 AERO RACING A-1
The A-1 was heavily "inspired" by Gerd Strenge's hand-built Durango prototypes, which were dominant in European racing at the time.
Chassis Composition: While Strenge's original Durango prototypes were often slab-sided and hand-machined, the Aero A-One utilized a high-end full graphite (carbon fibre) chassis with machined aluminium components.
Mechanical Evolution: Aero Racing claimed to have made several changes to the original concept, including revised steering geometry and a different suspension setup (front and rear) to distinguish it from the Durango.
In April 2007, during the first race of the UK Nationals, Aero Racing showcased the A-One and claimed they had purchased the full design concept and rights from Gerd Strenge.
Gerd Strenge issued an official statement clarifying that he had no link to Aero Racing and had not sold them the project.
Strenge revealed he had actually sold the Durango project to a different company (which eventually became Team Durango under Serpent/Michael Vollmer).
Aero Racing maintained they had bought the "rights" to the concept, though the exact source of those rights remained disputed
This car is signed by the owners of the now defunct Aero Racing, Danny and Bob Claes.
