2008 AERO RACING A-1

The A-1 was heavily "inspired" by Gerd Strenge's hand-built Durango prototypes, which were dominant in European racing at the time.

• Chassis Composition: While Strenge's original Durango prototypes were often slab-sided and hand-machined, the Aero A-One utilized a high-end full graphite (carbon fibre) chassis with machined aluminium components.

• Mechanical Evolution: Aero Racing claimed to have made several changes to the original concept, including revised steering geometry and a different suspension setup (front and rear) to distinguish it from the Durango.

In April 2007, during the first race of the UK Nationals, Aero Racing showcased the A-One and claimed they had purchased the full design concept and rights from Gerd Strenge.

• Gerd Strenge issued an official statement clarifying that he had no link to Aero Racing and had not sold them the project.

• Strenge revealed he had actually sold the Durango project to a different company (which eventually became Team Durango under Serpent/Michael Vollmer).

• Aero Racing maintained they had bought the "rights" to the concept, though the exact source of those rights remained disputed
