1997 MX-4 Prototype “World Warm-Up Configuration”

I finally got to build Ruben’s RRP MX-4 97 World Prototype kit, but I could not resist adding a little twist.

Masami secretly tested a slightly different prototype car at the warm-up race that was held a few weeks ahead of the main event.

This car sports different front-end delrin gearbox, front tower, top deck and a very interesting rear tower that mirrored the same toe setting configuration as the front with 3 alloy support holding the toe plate in place. This technical solution was later dropped, but I really like the fact it makes the MX-4 more balanced technically between the front and rear design solutions.

This car was basically the prototype of the prototype of the MX-4 🤣. I only ever saw one of these cars.

For those interested, I have made this design available to L&L Models and the rear tower and toe-plate will soon be available for both standard MX4 rear end and 97 Proto rear end.
